Dear Families,
We are so grateful for the ministry of Fr. Alex Pablo among our four parishes. He has been such a blessing to so many of you and we give thanks to God for him. He has been with us for ten years now. He came in July of 2015 and has been helping us ever since. Although his “full time” ministry came to an end a couple of years ago during Covid, he has remained in the area as a Parochial Vicar at St. James Cathedral. As such, he has been helping us basically one weekend a month since he moved over there. He has been a great help to all of us especially this last year when I was unable to be here many weekends. He has blessed our cars and homes. He has gone to the hospital to visit and anoint us. He has shared his wisdom and insights in his homilies. He has shared with us the Body and Blood of Christ, and we are grateful for the many blessings he has bestowed upon us. Come join us next Saturday evening, July 26th after the 5:30 pm Mass at St. Peter to honor our friend, brother and Father. We are not sure how many people to plan for, so we made this event a potluck. There is a listing of what to bring by last name and the main dish will be provided by the Parish Family (A-E Dessert, F-K Salad (Caesar, pasta), L-Q Pop/Beverages, R-Z Side dish (corn, asparagus, potatoes, shrimp, chicken wings).
Yours in Christ,
Fr. K. Scott Connolly
Pastor

Youth Migrant Encuentro Donation Drive

In mid-August, 23 youth will be heading to the Skagit Valley on the Youth Migrant Encuentro service learning trip. While there, we will volunteer at the Tri-Parish Food Bank at St. Charles in Burlington, help glean at local farms, and visit a local migrant camp to host Mass and a fiesta. This is a great opportunity for our teens to learn about agricultural production in our region and to meet the people who help put food on our table. For the next few weeks, we will be collecting food, clothing, hygiene items, school supplies, and toys to share with the migrant families we encounter. Please see the attached list of needed items and consider donating items by Sunday, August 10. We will have a collection box in the entryway of the church. Thank you!

Save the Date: Jubilee Year Pilgrimage

Did you know that we are in the middle of Jubilee Year? Pope Francis began the Jubilee Year when he opened the doors to St. Peter’s Basilica on December, 24 2024. The doors will remain open until the end of the Jubilee Year on January 6, 2026. During the Jubilee, millions of pilgrims are expected to travel to Rome to walk through the Holy Doors and participate in Jubilee events. Those unable to travel to Rome can participate in the Jubilee locally by making a pilgrimage to St. James Cathedral in Seattle or to one of the other designated pilgrimage sites. A Jubilee is a special year of prayer. Jubilees are times for forgiveness, reconciliation, and pilgrimage and are a part of the Catholic tradition. Jubilees ordinarily take place every twenty-five years. The theme of Jubilee 2025 is “Pilgrims of Hope”. Our parishes will participate in this Jubilee Year by gathering for a pilgrimage to St. James Cathedral on Sunday, August 17. For those who would like to walk, we will gather at St. Peter and travel on foot together to St. James, arriving in time to do a tour of the Cathedral before Evening Prayer and Adoration begins at 4pm. For those who cannot walk, you can meet us at St. James. Look for more details as we get closer to the date. Note: The faithful can obtain the Jubilee indulgence if, having celebrated the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist, they devoutly visit any Jubilee site and there, for a suitable period of time, engage in Eucharistic adoration and meditation, concluding with the Our Father, the Profession of Faith in any legitimate form, and invocations to Mary, the Mother of God. New South Seattle Parish Family Website

As part of the Partners in the Gospel process of becoming one canonical parish, we have launched a new website for the South Seattle Parish Family, which will contain all the information formally housed on our four separate parish sites. You can access the site at www.southseattlecatholic.org During the transition time, the old website addresses will take you to the new website. We will continually work on adding to this new site and appreciate your patience during the process. As a reminder, you can also follow us on Facebook at SouthSeattleCatholicChurches and on Instagram at seseattleparishes.
