A Letter from the Pastoral Coordinator

Dear Families,
As I looked at all the events listed in our bulletin this week, I was struck by the incredible ways that God is moving in our community. Over the past couple years parents and guardians have responded to help create a Middle School Youth Group for our youth and the kids have shown up to make it successful. Our St. George Parish School is at capacity and celebrated the Baccalaureate and graduation of its 104th class this week! This weekend, the Archdiocese of Seattle will celebrate the ordination of a new priest, Joseph Tapia-Beeman. And on Sunday, over 85 youth and adults from our South Seattle Parish Family will be confirmed at St. George at the 10:30am Mass with Bishop Elizondo. God is faithful and continues to provide inspiration, invitation, and possibility in our community. And thanks to the “yes” of so many faithful people, we have teachers, principals, priests, ministers, parents, guardians, students, and more to help keep the Good News of the gospel alive and well! Let us enjoy the celebrations this week and thank you to all of you who make up the Body of Christ here among us.
Peace, Jennifer Ibach jibach@stedwardparish.net

Confirmation

We are excited to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation with over 85 youth and adults at St. George on Sunday, June 8 at our 10:30am Mass. Bishop Eusebio will preside at this bilingual Mass (English-Spanish) on Pentecost Sunday. We anticipate a packed church and parking lot so please plan accordingly. If your child is going into 7th grade or above and has not yet been confirmed, please let us know and we will help you to get registered for our next round of sacramental preparation classes starting in September.
Fr. Scott’s Party

On Tuesday, June 10, Fr. Scott celebrates the 30th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood and we’re having a party! Join us for Mass at 6pm at St. Edward followed by a dinner dance in the Hall. We didn’t get to properly celebrate his 25th due to COVID so this is long overdue. It is also extra special because he has successfully completed his stem cell transplant and will be back with us soon. There is much to celebrate. Please RSVP via our online form at https://rb.gy/a4r9eo or using our QR code.

Corpus Christi Multicultural Eucharistic Procession and Adoration

Join Bishop Schuster on Saturday, June 21 at 3pm for the Corpus Christi Multicultural Eucharistic Procession and Adoration in honor of the Eucharistic presence of Christ in our midst in this year of Jubilee. The procession begins at the historic Immaculate Conception Church in Seattle (820 18th Avenue) with representatives from many of the different communities that make up this local Church. We then process together with the Blessed Sacrament through the streets of Seattle to St. James Cathedral (804 9th Avenue) where we will conclude with Adoration and Benediction at 5pm. All are welcome to enjoy prayer, music, procession, and adoration.
