A Letter from the Pastoral Coordinator
Dear Families,
This weekend we celebrate the Feasts of Saint Peter and Saint Paul. Happy Feast Day to all our parishioners in those parishes! Saints Peter and Paul were incredible witnesses to the faith and helped spread Christianity after the death of Jesus. They brought the Good News to both Jews and Gentiles, and both gave their lives for the cause. They came to their discipleship in very different ways and each fulfilled unique roles in the early Church. They were also flawed human beings who made mistakes along the way. This can give us hope. We are bigger than our mistakes and we have a loving God who is always there patiently waiting for us. God doesn’t always call the equipped but rather equips the called. How is God calling you to help spread the Good News and how will you respond?
On a personal note, as I wrap up my time as your Pastoral Coordinator, I would like to thank Fr. Scott and Archbishop Etienne for trusting me and giving me the opportunity to serve in this role. I would also like to thank all of you for your trust and support. Thanks be to God, Fr. Scott had a successful stem cell transplant and is doing much better now. He will return to his role as Pastor on July 1 and I will move to being the Director of Pastoral Ministry for the Parish Family.
Peace, Jennifer Ibach jibach@stedwardparish.net Pastoral Associate for South Seattle Parishes (Sts. Edward, George, Paul and Peter)

Cleveland Playfield Community Cleanup

Join volunteers from Cleveland Playfield Traffic Safety Improvement Project for a community cleanup at and around Cleveland Playfield on Monday, July 7th from 3 pm to 5 pm. The focus will be the area on and around the Cleveland Playfield, the adjacent 13th Ave S, and the intersection with S Lucile Street. Meet at the northwest corner of the playfield, for intros and a brief safety chat. Tasks will include: trimming of overgrown brush, mulch spreading, rubbish removal, replacing any wayward traffic-calming yard signs, and organizing the equipment shed. Tools, snacks, and refreshments will be provided.
Anointing of the Sick

We will be celebrating our quarterly Anointing of the Sick on Wednesday, July 9 at 6pm at St. Edward. It will be followed by a dinner in the Hall. The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is celebrated to offer healing and comfort during times of illness. The priest will anoint people with oil on their foreheads and hands. Please come to receive the Sacrament if you are ill and consider bringing those who may need help getting to Mass. All are invited to come pray and surround the sick in a special way as well.
Summer Movie Nights

Our Summer Movie Nights are back! Join us for two movie nights this summer on Friday, July 25 at 8:30pm in the plaza at St. Edward and Friday, September 12 at 8pm at St. George on the School Field. Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy a family-friendly movie with free snacks.

Save the Date: Jubilee Year Pilgrimage

Did you know that we are in the middle of Jubilee Year? Pope Francis began the Jubilee Year when he opened the doors to St. Peter’s Basilica on December, 24 2024. The doors will remain open until the end of the Jubilee Year on January 6, 2026. During the Jubilee, millions of pilgrims are expected to travel to Rome to walk through the Holy Doors and participate in Jubilee events. Those unable to travel to Rome can participate in the Jubilee locally by making a pilgrimage to St. James Cathedral in Seattle or to one of the other designated pilgrimage sites. A Jubilee is a special year of prayer. Jubilees are times for forgiveness, reconciliation, and pilgrimage and are a part of the Catholic tradition. Jubilees ordinarily take place every twenty-five years. The theme of Jubilee 2025 is “Pilgrims of Hope”. Our parishes will participate in this Jubilee Year by gathering for a pilgrimage to St. James Cathedral on Sunday, August 17. For those who would like to walk, we will gather at St. Peter and travel on foot together to St. James, arriving in time to do a tour of the Cathedral before Evening Prayer and Adoration begins at 4pm. For those who cannot walk, you can meet us at St. James. Look for more details as we get closer to the date. Note: The faithful can obtain the Jubilee indulgence if, having celebrated the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist, they devoutly visit any Jubilee site and there, for a suitable period of time, engage in Eucharistic adoration and meditation, concluding with the Our Father, the Profession of Faith in any legitimate form, and invocations to Mary, the Mother of God.
