News for the Week

September 14, 2023

Hello St. George Families,

Our first Parents’ Club meeting is tonight at 7:00-8:00 P.M. in the school hall. We encourage you to come in person and meet eye-to-eye with other families as we build community! We offer a hybrid meeting on Zoom for those who can’t make it. We want to say a special thanks to all of the parents who stepped in as Room Parents and event leads. Nothing happens without parents stepping up to the plate to support our community. This meeting's topics will include the Jogathon and the Halloween Carnival. We will have a Zoom connection for those who need to be home for the kids.

JOGATHON/BBQ: Got pledges! St. George’s annual Jogathon Fundraiser and BBQ is Sunday, Sept. 24th! See the attached flyer for links to fundraising, volunteering to help, and pre-order your burgers/hot dogs at the BBQ. Every family who raises $250 or more will receive a 2023 St. George Jogathon t-shirt! Get your pledges in by Sept. 19th and we will send your children’s t-shirts home on Sept. 20 so they can wear them to school on Friday and at the big race! So far, we have raised $12,145.

Thank you for supporting our Jogathon and Back-to-School BBQ! Volunteer opportunities are provided in shifts so you can enjoy our event AND get a jump start on your volunteer hours for the school year! Sign up here: http://tinyurl.com/jogathonhelp

Synodal Gathering for Youth and Young Adults with Archbishop Etienne All are invited to join in prayer together on Friday, September 22 at 6:30 p.m. at St. James Cathedral. We will be praying for the Church as we prepare for the Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops that starts in Rome next month. Archbishop Etienne will be one of the bishops representing North America. Before he goes, he’d like to hear from the youth and young adults in our Archdiocese. They are invited to share a meal with him following the prayer at 7:30 p.m. in Cathedral Hall Place. This is a chance for the younger members of our Church to share their experiences and hopes and reflect on how we can carry out our mission more effectively. Youth and young adults can register for dinner by contacting Jennifer Ibach. To learn more about the Synod, go to https://together2023.net/

Mass of the Holy Spirit in Preparation for the Synod All are invited to a special Mass with Archbishop Etienne on Saturday, September 23 at 5:30 p.m. at St. James Cathedral. Pope Francis has appointed Archbishop Etienne as a delegate to the Synodal assembly in Rome this October. In this special celebration, we pray together with him in preparation for this extraordinary time for the whole Church. All are welcome. Join us in person or @ArchdioceseofSeattle on Vimeo and Facebook.

Partners in the Gospel Input Session We want to hear from you! As part of Partners in the Gospel, the proposed list of parish families will be released by the Archdiocese of Seattle next weekend. We invite you to join us for an input session on Saturday, September 30 at 9:30 a.m. at St. George to discern our proposed parish family, discuss and provide feedback. After an overview of Partners, the timeline, and the process, we will share in small groups. Doors open at 9:00 for a light breakfast. Our feedback will be sent back to the Archdiocese so they can continue to discern and adjust as needed. For more information, contact Jennifer at jibach@stedwardparish.net.

Tomorrow is Hawaiian Day. For $1 dress in your favorite summer outfit. (School appropriate shorts only).
