Summer youth internships and Seattle Science center free camp lottery

 

 

Dear Parents,

Here are some interesting programs for youth ages PreK-24 years old/.


SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SUMMER SCIENCE CAMPS 

WHEN: Applications due by March 25, 2024 

WHERE: Applications are now available for the Pacific Science Center’s Camps for Curious Minds Scholarship Program. This lottery-based programs offers youth in grades PreK-8 interested in science education opportunities to participate in one of PacSci’s week-long camp sessions at no cost. 

Campers qualify for a scholarship if they: 

  • Qualified for free or reduced lunch program for the 2023-2024 school year. 

  • Are in the foster care system currently, or were during the 2023-2024 school year. 

  • OR are in the care of parent/guardian enrolled in the food assistance program (SNAP) or other public assistance programs.

PAID PARKS DEPARTMENT INTERNSHIPS 

WHEN: Applications due by April 21, 2024. Internship dates July 8 – August 15. 

WHAT: Love parks and being outdoors? King County Parks Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) is a PAID summer internship program for teens interested in jobs in parks and the environment. Interns work 22 hours per week and meet daily Monday through Wednesday at Bethaday Community Learning Center in White Center, and virtually via zoom on Thursdays. Internships are open to youth living in King County and entering grades 10-12. No resume or cover letter needed to apply.

PAID SUMMER INTERNSHIPS FOR SEATTLE YOUTH 

WHEN: Internship period is July 8 – August 15, 2024. Applications due Tuesday, March 26, 2024. 

WHAT: The Seattle Youth Employment Program (SYEP) supports young people (ages 16 to 24) to increase their ability to pursue careers that pay well and are meaningful to them. SYEP’s Internship Program places young people in professional and/or structured paid work settings within City departments, local businesses, and nonprofit agencies to apply their knowledge, gain hands-on experience, develop professional connections, and build their resume. 

To be eligible applicants must be: 

  • 16-24 years old 

  • A resident of Seattle OR a student in Seattle Public School or Seattle Colleges

  • Member of a household with income at or below 80% Area Median Income
