St. George Shines: A Year of Uninterrupted Learning Featured on KIRO 7 News

St. George students haven't missed a day of learning this year!

When Governor Inslee announced school closures in King County on March 11, 2020, St. George Staff held an emergency meeting after school and began designing our Distance Learning Program.

On March 12th, all students and staff reviewed the web-based systems we were currently using and packed up all the instructional resources the students needed to get started. Chrome books were checked out by families who needed them.

On March 13th, which was a pre-calendared staff professional development day, the staff began building lessons for the following week that were aligned to the Washington State Learning Standards and a continuation on the learning continuum from Thursday, March 12, 2020.

In each of the last seven weeks of school, students are engaging in variety of on line tools to process new skills and show mastery in math, reading, writing, science, social studies, religion, art, music, physical education and library media skills from our talented and dedicated staff. Zoom lessons and meetings are happening daily with teachers and students, and parents are welcome to join!

We have staff available 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Monday - Friday for drive by pick up of any new instructional tools necessary as students move through the curriculum units whether it be protractors, compasses, hard copies of assignments, science experiment equipment or trade books. If they need it, we will do our best to provide it!

We are so proud of our staffs commitment and dedication to our students' learning and mental health. We are especially proud of the high participation rate in all that is offered at St. George Parish School by our students and families. WE ARE STRONGER WHEN WE WORK TOGETHER!

As our sign says, we haven't missed a day of learning; we just miss our students!

WE ARE ST. GEORGE!
