Principal's Weekly Newsletter

October 13, 2022

Hello St. George Families,

On Tuesday, we welcome the Book-It Theater with their presentation of the book Trying by Kobe Yamada. The growth mindset theme of the play is the importance of trying and the lessons we learn when we fail. All students in Preschool-8th grade will attend the play in the school hall.

Preschool- Kindergarten 2023-24 Intent to Register. If you have any child who is not currently enrolled in our Early Learning program who will be age three or four by August 31, 2023 and would like them to be on the wait-list for the next school year, please contact our office.

We are also taking names of any incoming Kindergarten students who will be 5 by August 31, 2023 and are NOT currently in our Early Learning Program. We want to make sure we save spaces for the littlest ones in our families! Please help us spread the word to family and friends to contact us and set up a tour for their own placement!

Tuition Assistance applications for 2023-2024 school year are due soon. Any family interested in applying for tuition assistance for students in K-8th Grade must complete an application. If you DO NOT complete the application with Fulcrum, we will not disburse tuition assistance to your family. Apply at https://www.fulcrumfoundation.org/grants-and-programs/tuition-assistance. Be sure to include any incoming Kindergarteners for next year in your family.

K-8 Mandatory Parent Teacher Conferences are Wednesday- Friday October 26-28th.

Conferences are 100% IN PERSON this year. School will be dismissed at NOON on Wednesday the 26th. Extended Care is only available on Wednesday from Noon-6:00 PM. School will be closed on Thursday and Friday so our teachers can meet with each family. All students in Grades 2-8 are REQUIRED to attend the conference with their parents as they themselves are accountable for their own classroom participation and work. Preschool and PreK students will be on their regular schedule these days!

Use the Sign-Up genius to register for your conference. Look to the left and SCROLL DOWN until you see your classroom teacher’s name and then click on the button for your choice time. Do that for each child and his or her teacher. The link will be closed on Tues. 25th. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0D4DA5A922ABFDC70-fall1

The Halloween Carnival is Friday, Oct. 28th. Room Parents will be emailing you to help out at your classroom booths. Paper bracelets will be distributed after payment on Greater Giving. Check out the attached flyer for more information.

A reminder that all Halloween costumes must be Catholic School appropriate, and nothing super gory as we have children of all ages in attendance. Be creative! Students in Grades 5-8 MAY NOT wear masks other than COVID Masks.

St. George will be hosting a middle school dance on Saturday Oct. 29th from 6:30-8:30 for our 6-8th graders and have invited 7th and 8th graders from our neighboring sister Catholic Schools. This event is run by our 8th grade parents! Permission slips for Grades 6-8 have been passed out!

St. George hoodies, joggers, & t-shirts will be available to order next week. Watch the website or this weekly newsletter next week for more information.
