Principal's Weekly Newsletter
September 22, 2022
Dear St. George Families,
I will be at the Archdiocesan Principals’ Retreat and PD on Thursday and Friday this week. Thank you to Fr. Scott and Mr. Cain who are running safety patrol with the 5th graders during my absence.
LOST and FOUND. We have many students forgetting to pick up their sweaters, lunch boxes and water bottles despite constant reminders. All unclaimed items are placed in the Lost and Found which lives in a blue box on the stage in the school hall. Parents are always welcome to come inside and dig through it looking for their child’s misplaced items.
Sunday is the big day! We invite ALL St. George families to our 10:30 Mass on Sunday, Sept. 25th. The Jogathon will start directly following Mass at 11:30. The starting line is in the church parking lot. We run north up 13th to Oregon. West to 12th and south on 12th through Maple Park and home!
All runners and walkers celebrate with Husky Ice Cream at the finish line! It is not too late to get pledges. Share the link https://saintgeorgeseattle.ejoinme.org/rundragons to friends and families! Families who raise $250 earn a free t-shirt, designed by winning student artist London Vaughn, for each St. George student in their family. Get your funds in by tomorrow so you can wear your shirt on race day!
A very special guest! Archbishop Etienne and Nicholas Ford, our new Superintendent of Catholic Schools, will tour St. George Parish School for the first time on Monday, Sept. 26th. They will be with us from 9:00-11:00 AM observing classrooms and meeting students and staff. St. George Parish School has a highly respected reputation in our community and we are proud to show who we are to Archbishop Etienne.
October Lunch orders are due Thurs. Sept. 28the. See the attached form.
Looking ahead:
Tues., Oct. 4th is the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and nature. Fr. Scott will host the blessing of the family pets at 8:00 AM on the school playground. We invite families to bring in their pet dog on a leash, their cat in a crate or other pets for a special blessing which will last about 10 minutes. We ask the parents bring the pets home with them right after.
Thurs. Oct. 6th Parents Club meeting at 6:30 PM in the school hall.
See you on Sunday.
Monica Wingard, Principal
