Auction is Here, Summer School, 2023-2024 Registration, Day of Service, First Communion Pop-Up Closet
March 9, 2023
Dear St. George Parents,
It’s auction time! We have 260 registered guests for our Pure Imagination Auction on March 11th. We are very excited for a night of fun and FUNDraising for our students. I can’t thank enough the many volunteers donating countless hours throughout the year ensuring the success of this night!
As you remember from the State of the School video, the church subsidies and community FUNDRAISING constitutes 25% of our operational budget. All proceeds from this event help benefit EVERY family in our school, and helps us keep tuition as affordable as possible. When everyone does their part and donates/bids, we all win!
We have opened up registration to new families. Ms. Ebreo and I will build tuition contracts for next year. Once that is set up in SchoolAdmin, we will send you an email to log into your account again and set up your payment plan. We appreciates everyone’s flexibility as we adapt to this platform for registration and tuition collection. We still have room in 3s, 4s and kindergarten and third grade classrooms. Help us spread the word and receive a $200 credit toward your September tuition if you recruit a new family!
2023 Summer School We have opened registration to those families in our local Catholic Schools. We’ve already received requests from families at St. Therese, Holy Rosary, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Holy Family Bilingual, St. Bernadette, and St. Anthony. If you plan to register your St. George students Preschool- Grade 6, get your form in soon as we have limited spaces per grade level.
The Scholastic book Fair is coming March 21-23. Mrs. Morgan is seeking volunteers to help the students find and purchase books. Sign up to help at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c094da9af2aa2f5c52-book#/ All proceeds are used to purchase new selections for our own library intriguing our readers from ages 3-14!
Looking Ahead
Second Trimester Honor Roll Friday March 31 following Mass in the church.
March 16th. Pay green ($1.00) to wear green for St. Patrick’s Day. All proceeds go to Rice Bowl for Catholic Relief Services.
No School Friday March 17 for Preschool-8th grade for staff Lenten retreat.
March 25th is the Day of Service from 10:00 AM-1:00 PM. It is wonderful to see so many families signing up for the various projects. This is a great opportunity for you to model for your children what it means to care for others in our community. Go to https://bit.ly/2023DayofService and find a project that works for you!
On that day, we are in need of some 15 strong volunteers to help us put together three new tents - 10 x 20 - for our courtyard. The ones we have for the last three years have taken a beating and we are replacing them. Email chanley@saintgeorgeseattle.org if you can help!
March 26th from 1-4 First Communion Pop-Up Closet. There is a community of moms that is organizing a check-out closet of First Holy Communions dresses, veils, gloves, suits, barongs and other culture First Communion attire including shoes. They want to ensure that First Communion occasion clothing is more accessible to all families in Seattle and help offset any financial burdens for families during this most holy event.
They are currently soliciting donations of gently used clothing for First Communion.
Our main office is collecting donations from any families in our own community.
They have organized the very FIRST Pop up Closet at St. George School on Sunday, March 26th from 1:00-4:00 where families can borrow an outfit for their child’s big day this spring! There will be a reservation list coming soon for families to sign up and shop for free.
March 31, Lenten Soup Dinner. Our Parents Club will be hosting Stations of the Cross and a Lenten Soup Dinner on Friday March 31 at 6:00 in the church. Parents are asked to bring a non-meat soup, stew or dish to share. If you are not sure what to cook go to https://www.crsricebowl.org/families and check out the meatless meal recipes from various cultures around the world.
We are springing the clocks ahead this Sunday. I am excited for MORE daylight! I look forward to seeing you at the auction, Saturday!
