Principal's Weekly Newsletter
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. Peter 4:10-11

Hello St. George Families,
Please keep Brandon Higa, our music teacher and his wife Ingrid, who plays the piano for us at our school Masses, in your prayers. Mrs. Higa’s father passed away last week and they will be attending his funeral next Monday in Hawaii.
The Holiday Season is fast approaching! See the attachment that lists all the different service projects we have going. You can do one or you can be involved in all of them. This is a great opportunity to get your children involved in a discussion of HOW they can put their Christian faith into action through service to others. We have collection tubs in the lobby for the different projects going on.
Seafarer toiletries are due to school tomorrow or this Sunday, Nov. 13th at Mass

During November the parish has set up an altar to honor all of our family members who have gone before us. We are inviting the students to bring a picture of their deceased love one to add to the altar. Pictures will be returned after Thanksgiving. We hold our loved ones in our heart and pray for their eternal peace.
This Sunday we invite all our families to 10:30 Mass. Following Mass, we have a fellowship event where families can pop in for coffee, treats and crafts for kids in the St. Francis room.
Tuition Assistance applications for 2023-2024 school year are due soon. Any family interested in applying for tuition assistance for students in K-8th Grade must complete an application. If you DO NOT complete the application with Fulcrum, we will not disburse tuition assistance to your family. Apply at https://www.fulcrumfoundation.org/grants-and-programs/tuition-assistance. Be sure to include any incoming Kindergarteners for next year.
Japanese Exchange Students. We have two families who have volunteered to host our incoming Japanese students for a week in Late March early April. We are looking for another 10 families. Could you be a gracious host for a week?
You would provide a private bedroom for the 1 or 2 students to share or have their own rooms.
The students would have at least one weekend hanging out with your family doing something fun in Seattle.
You would provide breakfast and dinner, and the students would come to school every day with your child while St. George would provide lunch here for our guests.
All adults in the home must be compliant with Archdiocesan Safe Environment policies to qualify.

Vincent de Paul: Helping Neighbors in Need
Ever wonder what services our parish St. Vincent de Paul volunteers provide? Here's an example: Recently Dee and Mario Ortiz, plus family members and friends, were able to help a young homeless woman six-months pregnant furnish a new apartment. Though this is not typical of our services, the Ortiz family and friends came up with a bed, baby items, a crib and mattress, a rocker, desk, and couch. More typically, our conference also provided a SVDP store voucher for pots and pans, bedding, and other household items. The young woman was extremely grateful for all the help. Dee Ortiz, incidentally, served as conference chair the past six years (a term limit) but has continued to serve as a knowledgeable, inspiring leader for the conference as "vice-president." If only we could recruit more volunteers like Dee! Please let us know if you might like to give it a try; it is such a valuable parish/community service! Contact SVDP Secretary Marge Haralson at (206) 762-9288 to learn more. Thank you for your donations that make all this possible!
