Hello St. George Families!

WOOT! WOOT! We just received confirmation form the Western Catholic Education Association that we received a FULL 6 Years Accreditation based on our self-study and last December’s visit by them. Hurray for us! That is the highest level of accreditation that they award. Congratulations to everyone for their support and volunteerism in ensuring that St. George Parish School is a highly effective Catholic school!

Auction Proceeds Spending Update. With the $32,550 that was donated during RAISE THE PADDLE, included in the overall $95,000 grossed at the auction, along with a $32,500 donation from the Fulcrum Foundation School Partnerships Grant, we have ordered carpet for the main school and library, new window blinds for the main school and 13 85” flat screen TVs for the classrooms.

In addition, to improve security on campus, we are upgrading every single interior door in the main school and the old convent with classroom function keyed lever locksets. We are also upgraded the exterior door locks to ensure they are high functioning and stay on an automatic relocking system. The preschool building was already updated with these locks in the remodel. This project was on our list last year, but we did not have enough funds to get it done. Now we do thanks to this year’s auction success. We also received an in-kind donation from a school family to add an intercom system to our front door to help with screening guests. Know that we take the safety and welfare of our children and staff seriously and work hard to do all that is reasonable to maintain a safe environment for everyone.

Mrs. Hart has notified families whose children have missing books from the library. She will be invoicing for replacement costs for lost or damaged library books not returned. As I mentioned before, we are so sad to say good-bye to Ms. Hart. She has been a fabulous asset to our educational program and we wish her the best! Here is a note from her.

Dear St. George Families,

After ten years as St. George's teacher-librarian I have accepted a job teaching 2nd grade at Our Lady of Guadalupe School in West Seattle. This school is 4 blocks from my house and my youngest daughter, Luce, will be in 7th grade there next year.

I have truly loved my ten years at St. George. This is a special community!! The caring and compassion that comes from teachers, staff, students, parents, and extended family is one I will always treasure. I will miss you all!

We pray that everyone has a wonderful summer full of adventure and joy, and comes back excited for the new school year. Always proud to be a Dragon!

In peace,
