News of the Week - 5/16/24

Dear St. George Families,

We are down to the last 18 days of school! It has a very busy year filled with lots of learning and excitement for the students. We have been blessed by parent volunteerism in so many ways from chaperoning field trips, helping in the classrooms and organizing school events for the whole community. St. George Parish School is as vibrant and welcoming as each of us make it sharing our gifts, talents and time. As community members, each of us has a responsibility to rally around ALL the students, and each other, making St. George a safe place that feels like a home away from home for all. Kids blossom and thrive when they feel valued, loved and challenged. THANK YOU TO ALL OF THE PARENTS who have VOLUNTEERED this year! Your presence matters and makes all the difference in our school!

Parents Attention:

  • 24-25 contracts are due June 1, 2024 - Please log in to Finalsite and complete your enrollment checklist.

  • I thank Alex Cooper ( and Jeff Castro ( who have stepped up to be the new Parents Club Leadership Team for next year.  With the help of Mary, Suni and Mia they are in RECRUTING mode to get us all set up for 2024-2025.  WE NEED MANY HANDS. Remember Fr. Scott’s challenge to the DADS last Back to School night. The kids need to see you involved, too!

  • I am attaching a link to all the key places for which WE NEED YOU! Please go to the link today and choose an area that you can help!  We are looking for parents who have never had the chance to be ROOM PARENT to jump in. We give LOTS of support and guidance! Alex and Jeff will reach out to you in late August as we get rolling for the fall.

  • We are attaching the June Hot Lunch menu!  Get your orders in ASAP!

  • Summer School registration is still ongoing. Deadline next week, Friday May 24th

Upcoming Event(s):

  • Thursday, May 23rd at 6:30 PM is our SPRING CONCERT for Preschool-8th grade. The doors open 6:00 PM. Students are encouraged to dress in their Sunday best. It is the expectation that all music students attend! Contact Mr. Higa if you have a conflict. Middle School students who are NOT in music this semester may attend ONLY if they are chaperoned by their parents. NO DROP OFFS allowed! They must sit with their parents during the concert.

    • Because our concert is in a holy place, our church, we do expect student and parent to be on their best behavior and not talk during each performance as that disrespects the musicians and makes it hard for all to hear.

  • The 7th grade families will be hosting a desserts and treats sale in the St. Francis Room for AFTER the concert. Bring your small change! NO food or drink is allowed in the church!

    • Additional items for sale:

      • Single stem roses before the concert begins in the vestibule. (For anyone that wants to celebrate/congratulate their child for their performance!) (extremely limited quantities)

      • Pizza slices (limited quantity)

  • Career Day We had a fantastic Career Day 2023 for 4th -8th grade!  Thank you to our event lead, Greg Ramirez, and all our Career Day Presenters for inspiring our future leaders!  View our photo album here.

  • Last evening was the final zoom Health & Wellbeing night with Odessa Brown Clinic for the school year.  A pdf of the slide show – Healthy Habits – is linked here.  In addition, here is a link to the Power Point Presentation, which includes access to FAST-B Caregiver Workbook, with information about power struggles, special time activities and much more.

Other Notes:

  • CYO ADULT SOFTBALL. There is a group of adults working to form a CYO softball team for the South Seattle Parish Family. If you are interested contact Alex Cooper at

In Peace, Monica Wingard
