Religion this week:
Parts of the mass is still our focus, we will be going over them a few more times so the students know what they are and why we do them.

Language Arts this week:
We are working on reading comprehension by retelling our stories in a story map and putting each event into order. We are also coming up with adjectives to describe characters from our story to better comprehend the story as we read it. A target we have all year long is to work on our reading fluency and voice, so I am listening to each student while they read to see what they need to work on in the 2nd half of the year to bring us up to a 3rd grade level. Our spelling words are: worked, sending, wants, glasses, sees, burning, reached, boxes, wishes, opening, pushed, marching, rushes, sweeps, crashes. All these words focus on suffixes like –ed or –ing or -es that change the word to a past tense or the number of items of the word.

Math this week :
Our focus is still money. This week our target is create many different ways to come up with the same amount. Another target we are working on is to accurate count coins.

Social Studies this week:
Maps are still ruling the classroom. Our overall target is to recognize the main elements to read a map and they are coordinates, compass rose, key, and title and use them to read a map and create our own maps. We are focusing on coordinates this week, and practicing our compass rose skills we learned last week.

Thanks

Reminder!

St. George asks that our snacks during the day be healthy brain food to help the students concentrate on their lessons and perform at their best. Below is a list that the students came up with for healthy snacks they would love to see in their bags for first recess snack time. Please no candy or cookies!!!
